Superhero Camp
‘Superhero Camp’ was organized by TEDxYouth@Colombo to provide the children at the Warehouse Project with the opportunity to articulate their understanding of our theme: ‘Powerful Beyond Measure’ and what the youth of nowadays are capable of achieving.
The Camp consisted of 2 sessions. The first was all about using their creativity to draw what kind of superhero they would want to be. The second encompassed physical activity.
Special thanks to our charitable sponsors Richard who were generous in providing the kids with stationery needs.
Bizarre Bazaar
Bizarre Bazaar was a fundraising event held prior to the TEDxYouth@Colombo conference, in collaboration with The Warehouse Project. All proceeds of the Bizarre Bazaar were put into making this year’s TEDx Colombo a success. With many different food stalls to choose from, a small shooting ring, face painting, a raffle draw and an open mike for talented performers, the event ensured in giving exposure not only to budding artists, but it also accommodated talented kids from The Warehouse Project programs, as well as providing the crowds with entertainment from talented local bands.
The event showcased talent from a sphere of local artists and performers, such as: Savindri Perera, Zero Point Five, Shane Von Vincent, Salvage, Thalal Akram Jabeer, the Bro Botz, the kids from The Warehouse Project. Some impromptu performances included Nadeeka Senadeer who sang Rihanna’s Take a Bow, Chathura Wickramage with his fantastic dance moves. Budshana Kalapuge entertained the crowd with his magic tricks and Eranga Jayawardena decided to throw out some beat boxing to the crowd. Shavindrie Perera struck the crowd with her beautiful voice, and Charendra Dahanayake channeled his inner Eddie Vedder by performing Pearl Jam’s Last Kiss. Another highlight of the evening was Jess the Fire Dancer, with her amazing feats of throwing lit-up chains of fire all around her into the air, and moving in perfect rhythm and timing.
